The Rainbow Reels Queer and Trans Film Festival features internationally acclaimed queer works that present images of Queer and Trans lives and issues; emphasizes issues of multicultural diversity and gender; encourages local artists, critics and audiences to participate in the discussion of cultural identities and aesthetics, and generally to present the public with an opportunity to see and discuss the thematic, aesthetic, emotional and political concerns raised by the work of queer and trans filmmakers.
The Festival would not be what it is without an amazing community to support, attend, get excited about, and be part of the festival really. This year we are engaging in collaboration to bring community members and groups together in helping organize the festival in small pieces.
Rainbow Reels welcomes the contributions that individuals from marginalized communities bring to our organization. Native peoples, Two Spirit people, people of colour, women, people from the Queer and Trans community, single parents, members of ethnic minorities, immigrants, refugees, and people with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.
